If you look to your right, on the sidebar of the blog, yes… right there. If you are looking at an avatar of a cute bunny requesting that you ask him a question then you’ve got it. That’s the new widget.
Everyone who is a member of the Questionland community now has one. There are two versions: one with a list of your most recent contributions (as shown on right) and one without.
What Do You Need a Widget For?
You can put the widget on your website or blog and voila, you have an interactive blog/website. A site where people can actually ask you something and you can answer.
When someone clicks on the widget it takes them to your personal page on Questionland (“My Page”). If they direct a question exclusively to you, then only you can answer it. Even better it has all your past Q&A listed right there so people won’t ask you the same thing repeatedly (one hopes).
How Do I Put The Widget on My Page?
You just go to your page on Questionland (“My Page”) and under your avatar you’ll see a link for widgets. Click it. You’ll see a preview of the widgets and you can customize and preview them until you are happy. Then you’ll see there is a box with some code in it. Copy that and paste it into the page where you want it to appear on your site/blog.
Is it Safe?
Yes. From a technical perspective it is safe. At the risk of getting a little geeky, it’s an iframe widget which means it’s just a little window into Questionland, rather than giving people any access to your site through it.
What if I Don’t Like the Questions I Get Asked?
The cool thing is that you can delete any questions you don’t like directly from your Questionland page (as long as they are directed exclusively to you).
Questions?
If you have a question about the widget, well there’s a widget on this page and you can use it to ask me a question about it.
